In the mood for pizza? Sick of getting takeout and don’t want to spend the time making your own dough? This Pesto Naan Bread Pizza is so yummy and takes no time to make.

It might sound crazy for someone who is Italian and whos grandma made THE BEST pizza ever to take this easy route, but I love making this during the week because it really is such a quick turnaround time. You can make a basic cheese pizza or get creative with it, but this is just one way I make Naan Bread Pizza fun!

What is Naan?

If you have never eaten Naan before, you are missing out! Some of the best naan I’ve ever had was in Scotland. I travelled there for work a few years back and went to an Indian restaurant with my colleagues. I swear the naan was half the size of the table and so delicious.

  • Naan is made from Maida, an Indian white flour similar to pastry flour
  • It originated in India, and the name comes from the Persian word, “non”, for bread.
  • Naan is a flatbread, typically used instead of silverware.
    • You tear pieces of the bread to scoop up and eat your food

I have to shout out to Wegman’s for their Naan bread – it is soft and flavorful, and they have a few different types you can choose from, Traditional (which I used for this recipe), whole grain and garlic. They even have mini naan bread packs, which would be so much fun to use if you have kids. Make your own mini pizzas is a great way to get your kids comfortable in the kitchen!

Pesto Naan Bread Pizza

My pesto Naan Bread Pizza moves us away from the typical tomato sauce that you may think of automatically with pizza. I used my Fresh Basil Pesto recipe as the sauce, so right away you are getting great flavors without much effort. You can make the pesto sauce ahead of time, freeze it, and have it ready whenever you want to make this quick meal.

Shopping List for Pesto Naan Bread Pizza

  • 26 oz. package of Naan Bread
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella Cheese
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Basil Pesto Sauce (Used my Fresh Basil Pesto recipe)
  • Red Pepper Flakes

This is the quickest meal you will make, so there is no reason not to give it a try. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
