Hi, I’m Stephanie
The Savory Cucina is a passion project rooted in my love of food, baking and travel.
I always enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows growing up. To this day, cooking shows provide me with a sense of nostalgia and peace of mind. While I always loved the idea of cooking and baking, it was not always a calming and enjoyable experience when I did it myself. I used to be so fixated on doing things “the right way,” and it took some time for me to realize that cooking is not just following a recipe but more about doing what feels right, having fun and leaning into the experience.
The best thing about cooking and baking is that it provides a sense of accomplishment, and seeing how even just a few ingredients come together to result in a beautiful bake or meal is so fulfilling. The tastes, the smells, the memories and the connections we have with others through food is the most powerful.
One of my biggest motivations for taking the plunge with this blog is my grandmother. While she passed away a few years back, she is always at the forefront of my mind. She came to the U.S. from Italy after W.W.II where she met my grandfather, and her cooking was something that helped her build community in a new world (more of that story later). When I think about her, I am flooded with memories of the incredible meals she made and the pure love everyone felt through her cooking. She was magical, and I would love to bring that magic to all of you!
Through this blog, I hope to build connections with you by sharing recipes inspired by my family as well as those of my own. Most of my own recipes will be made with simple ingredients to help you see how manageable and fun cooking can be. I would love for you to follow along as I test new recipes and explore local and international food finds.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
Stephanie
