Whether you are looking for something to make for game day or just craving comfort food, these Black Bean Nachos are so delicious and easy to make.

Football Sundays were always a part of my life growing up, and that meant family time, watching the New England Patriots and great food. Part of what made those days and that tradition so special is the sense of community you get from being around people who are cheering for the same team, and I think the same thing goes for food. Food brings people together, especially when it is the kind of dish that is meant for sharing. For the last couple years, I’ve made these nachos for the Super Bowl, and I just love them.
Nacho Making Tips
- Layering Nachos
In my opinion, the most important thing about making nachos is ensuring everyone can get all of the different toppings in one bite. You cannot do that unless you layer the nachos. You don’t want to just put all of the toppings on the chips in one layer. Rather, you want to alternate layers, and this is generally how I do it.
Tortilla chips are the bottom layer, then I add any “warm toppings” – in this case onions, garlic, black beans, peppers and shredded cheese, add another layer of chips and then “warm toppings” again. You can do this in 2-3 layers, and then add the “fresh toppings” – such as avocado, tomatoes and salsa.
This allows for an even distribution of the toppings and guaranteed satisfaction!
- One Cheese Just Isn’t Enough
For me, cheese is life! What makes these nachos great, is that I use both shredded cheese and cheese sauce. I will admit I do not make my own cheese sauce (although maybe I will add that to my list of things to create), but you really cannot go wrong with Tostitos Salsa con Queso. Just heat it up in the microwave and drizzle it on top of the baked nachos as the final touch, and it adds a bit of spice too. I could eat this cheese sauce by the spoonful, it is so good.
